The 3rd Annual Louise Lauretti Hoops for Horizons 3 v 3 charity basketball tournament will be held March 4th, 2017 at Savannah Country Day School starting at 9am. The event is open to teams of boys and girls grades 5th through adults. Teams of up to 5 players may register to play. The tournament will be 3 v 3 play with refereed games. Teams are guaranteed 3 games each and will play in age and affinity divisions. Hosted by Savannah Country Day School, tournament clinics will be provided by local legends Larry “Gator” Rivers and Dale Parker. A former Harlem Globetrotter, “Gator” is also a famous Beach High School Alumnus. Parker retired after leading the Hornets to three title games and winning a state championship in 2000 after 18 years of coaching at Savannah Country Day.
The Savannah Championship Free Throw Contest is back at our halftime break at noon! Players of all ages can come out and attempt to sink the most free throws. What is Battle Ball? Otherwise known as Bubble Soccer, Knockerball or Bubble Ball, it is a remix of soccer, zorbs and hockey. Bubble Soccer originated overseas but now is sweeping the US. Bubble Soccer allows each participant to compete in several game modes which involve bouncing into each other in their own bubble ball, while being fully safe and sound in their protected bubble. Bounce into one another, run full speed ahead and come out unharmed as each of the Battle Balls games for Back 2 School Battle Ball have been engineered with safety in mind. We will have 5 lanes for adults and children over 42” from 12-4pm for all day fun!

More than 220 golfers from U.S. and Canadian Special Olympics Programs will compete in the 15th annual Special Olympics North America Golf Invitational Tournament at Port Royal Golf Club in Hilton Head, SC, September 10-13, 2015. The Special Olympics North America Golf Invitational, presented by KPMG LLP, is seeking volunteers to assist with the tournament.
Tournament organizers are inviting the community to experience the joy and power of Special Olympics first-hand by helping fill an array of volunteer positions during the tournament. Those interested may apply online at http://bit.do/sonagolfvolunteer. Volunteer positions will be assigned on a first come, first served basis, with registration closing August 31. Golf knowledge is not necessary for all volunteer roles; however, for volunteers with golf knowledge, specific volunteer roles are available. Volunteers will be provided with a meal during their shift and an event shirt. Volunteers under 15 years of age must be accompanied by an adult – no volunteers under 13 years of age allowed.
