Memory Matters will offer a free, five-part series on Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia from 10 a.m. to noon on Fridays from Oct. 16 through Nov. 13 at The Cypress, 20 Ladyslipper Lane, Hilton Head. Dementia Dialogues instructor, Melissa Dalton of Memory Matters will present this training.
Dementia Dialogues is a five-session training designed to educate individuals who care for persons who exhibit signs and symptoms associated with Alzheimer’s disease or related dementias. This program includes information on the symptoms of dementia, effective techniques for verbal and non-verbal communication, caregiving strategies, how to address challenging behaviors and environmental factors that affect the safety and behavior of those with dementia. Dementia Dialogues training is made possible through the Office for the Study of Aging and the SC Department of Health and Human Services.
