The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of the Lowcountry is pleased to announce a Nurture Nature Retreat and Wild Walk on Saturday, September 9, 2017. The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of the Lowcountry invites the public to join us in learning how we can live more deeply, more connected, more in love with nature, including human nature, and nurture ourselves through nature. The mostly indoor retreat will take place at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of the Lowcountry building at 110 Malphrus Road in Bluffton from 10am to 1pm. The Wild Walk will take place at Pinckney Island National Wildlife Refuge located midway on the Hilton Head Island bridge from 4pm to 6pm. The fee for the two-part event is $10.00.
The Nurture Nature Retreat and Wild Walk will be lead by Rev. Dr. LoraKim Joyner from White Plains, NY. Rev. Dr. LoraKim Joyner is an inspiring speaker, wildlife veterinarian, Unitarian Universalist minister, and trainer in Nonviolent Communication. She draws on 30 years working in Latin America with marginalized people and endangered wildlife and 20 years working in Unitarian Universalist ministry. She is also an adjunct professor at the Unitarian Universalist seminary, Meadville Lombard Theological School, where she teachers “Multispecies and Ecological Ministry, Theology, and Justice” and “Compassionate Communication.”
The Nurture Nature Retreat is suitable for ages pre-teen to adult. A $10.00 registration fee includes the retreat and walk. Proceeds benefit One Earth Conservation.
